The Beast and The mountain: the heaviest boxing match in history is just days away and the tensions are mounting in the sparring camps. There’s no love lost between these two man-mountains as Eddie Hall and Hafþór Björnsson get set to finally lay rest to the biggest rivalry in Strongman history.
EDDIE HALL
“We actually genuinely hate each other. To be honest, I just want to bang this guy out, bang him out again and then just get him out of my head space because I’ve just spent too much time fixated on wanting to hurt this man and I just need to move on. He wronged me in 2017, he’s put a black cloud over me for a number of years. I just want to put that to bed and move on with my life.
“Everyone’s saying he’s a better athlete than me but I think just the people are sort of gauging how serious I’m taking this. I’m putting my heart and soul into this and I don’t do anything 99%. It’s 100% or nothing and I think it’s safe to say just people are starting to get that feel that I’m taking this very seriously and he’s going to get his jaw broke!”
Hafþór Björnsson
“The whole world knows Eddie and I don’t get along. Some people just don’t get along in life and that’s okay. I don’t need to get along with him. And that’s fine, but I don’t necessarily hate the guy, I wouldn’t go that far. I mean, I do dislike him. He said some nasty things towards my team and my family.
“I do really dislike the guy and I really want to knock him out. But to hate someone, you have to go really deep and that would just take energy from me. I’m not thinking about the guy every single day, I’m just doing my thing; training and focusing on myself. If I’m too worried about him and hate him too hard, that’s going to just take energy from me. And then he’s winning. I don’t want that.”
